PUSLINCH - Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Highway Safety Division (HSD) – Cambridge Detachment are investigating a collision which occurred on Highway 401, in Puslinch Township, Ontario.

On Saturday, April 30, 2016, at approximately 5:42 a.m., a collision involving two transport trucks occurred on Highway 401, in the westbound lanes between Guelph Line and Highway 6/Brock Road.

The lead transport truck was travelling in the right lane when it was struck from behind by another transport.

The collision resulted in extensive damage to the tractor portion of the second transport.

The two occupants in the second truck were extricated by Emergency Services and airlifted to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The two occupants in the lead truck remained at the scene and were not injured.

The driver of the second transport truck identified as Jacques Vaillancourt, a 65-year-old man from St. Ignace De Standbridge, Quebec, has now been charged with one count of careless driving - contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.

The investigation is continuing and any witnesses are asked to contact Provincial Constable Martin at the Cambridge OPP detachment - (519) 654-0150.
