With the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting businesses large and small, the University of Guelph’s Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics is launching a webinar series in collaboration with the Guelph Chamber of Commerce to help guide businesses through these turbulent times.

The series, called “Leading Through Crisis,” is designed for organizational leaders in the profit and not-for-profit sectors and will feature free, 60-minute weekly webinars that will analyze topics relevant to the pandemic’s impact on the global economy, along with tips and tools.

“Now more than ever, our business community is in need of support,” said Statia Elliot, the school’s associate dean, external relations. “These webinars are a way that Lang can help, by reaching out and sharing our expertise and insights.”

Each week, experts from the business community and the Lang School will provide relevant, thought-provoking insights for professionals and executives. Attendees will be able to post questions for response during each interactive webinar.

The first webinar will be held April 16 at 1:30 p.m. ET and will explore how leaders can adapt their strategies during crises to be more resilient.

The webinar will feature entrepreneur and philanthropist Jim Estill, president and CEO of Danby Appliances in Guelph, along with Prof. Felix Arndt, John F. Wood Chair in Entrepreneurship at the Lang School. The event will be moderated by Shakiba Shayani, president and CEO of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce.

Other topics include the role of leadership, employee moral and coping, economic continuity, rebuilding tourism and hospitality, and sustainability beyond COVID-19.

For more information and to register, visit the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics website.
