Unique flower studio offers services well beyond typical flower shop

Discover succulent Saturdays, teacup floral arranging and floral design 101

Fleuristic Garden and Flower Studio is operating a unique flower studio that offers services well beyond a typical flower shop.

Owners Kalie Anderson and Leah Olsen-Kent opened their store, located at 739 Woolwich Street on May 1, 2015.

The location is nestled on a big lot off of Woolwich, in what was once a pub called The Pour House. Anderson and Olsen-Kent have transformed the studio, painting the outside a bright pink, and filling the boutique with fresh flowers, giftware and a variety of unique items.

The self-proclaimed “Flower Girls” offer a variety of floral services, from handmade bouquets, flowers for weddings, funerals, and corporate events, and custom made flower arrangements for homes and offices.

“We wanted to bring everything into the shop that we ourselves love,” said Anderson.

Customers are fans of the clothing line they carry, called Simply Noelle. The owners order only a small number of each item, and often sell out of items quickly.

“It’s unique and quality clothing, and you know you won’t see everyone wearing it,” Anderson said.

Items also include unique handmade gifts, locally made products, and fairy garden items.

Fleuristic offers a wide range of flowers, including a variety of local and imported fresh cut flowers.

A Niagara supplier brings in gerber daisies and snapdragons, and a variety of exotic flowers are flown in from Ecuador, Colombia and Holland.

“The longevity of flowers is pretty amazing,” said Anderson.

The pair are also working to grow their own flowers and plants on site, and hope to reduce their environmental footprint and serve their customers who prefer to buy local.

“We do have some garden beds on site, and we’ll continue planting more and having more selection,” Anderson said.

Right now they offer a variety of items fresh from their own site, including fresh cut greenery, flowering shrubs, dahlias and peonies, when in season.

Anderson and Olsen-Kent are also expanding their workshop selection and offering some new and innovative community-building ideas into their space.

Starting on Saturday, February 3 until Saturday, March 24 the studio will be hosting Succulent Saturdays. Individuals or groups can drop by anytime during store hours to create a fresh succulent garden or succulent terrarium.

Anderson explained that instead of having people sign-up for an evening workshop, a group of friends, a couple, or even one person can drop in and create their own succulent garden and receive advice and information on caring for their unique creation.

Anderson and Olsen-Kent will also be introducing a variety of new workshops in the new year, and said that many clients choose to purchase a workshop in lieu of flowers as a gift for Valentine’s Day.
