Bill Nuhn, the city's manager of theatres and civic events, announces the River Run Centre's 2023-24 lineup of events.

From world renowned comedians and artists, to Canadian music royalty, children's entertainers and more, the upcoming River Run Centre season will have something for everyone.

"There's a good mix of programming, diversity of artists," said Bill Nuhn, the manager of theatres and civic events with the city. "I'm really looking forward to the season."

The 2023-24 season kicks off October 19 with Gemini Award-winning comedian Shawn Majumder returning as part of the GuelphToday.com Comedy Series.

Other comedic acts include Whitney Cummings (date TBD) and the Just For Laughs Road Show (Apr. 26, 2024).

Turning to music, Burton Cummings and his band will bring an unplugged performance to the River Run on October 29. Dean Brody, the Mudmen and The Trews will also hit the stage.

But along with those acts comes a bit of mystery.

A yet-to-be-named Canadian band will hit the stage at some point next season.

"I have a show booked," Nuhn said. "But for contractual obligations this musical group has elsewhere, I can't tell you who it is."

"Let's just say they're really really popular, and have numerous music videos with millions of views on YouTube."

Nuhn said the hope is an announcement can be made in mid-July.

There will also be local artists performing, including James Gordon.

For the kids, the season will feature the 'Park Eatery Kinderconcerts,' with a trio of performances highlighted, and a series of family entertainment.

This includes magician and America's Got Talent alumni Chris Funk on January 3, 2024.

The full calendar of events can be found on the River Run Centre website.
