UPDATE: Guelph now has 23 confirmed cases of COVID-19

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has 45 confirmed cases in its coverage area

According to the latest statistics from Public Health posted at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday there are now 23 lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Guelph.

There are seven in Wellington County and 14 in Dufferin County, which is the coverage area of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.

There have been 26 new cases confirmed in the past 48 hours.

The number does not include people who may have symptoms and are self-isolating at home but who have not been tested. It also does not include people who work in Public Health's coveage area but reside outside that area, such as the four Guelph General Hospital staff members who tested positive last week.

Three of the 45 cases in Public Health's coverage area remain hospitalized, one is in critical condition.

Of the 45 cases in the area, 24 of them are female.
