Vegfest back for its sixth year to support growing movement

Festival aims to provide an outlet for people to learn about veganism

The sixth annual Vegfest is back Saturday at Riverside Park for anyone curious about what plant-based and vegan food is all about.

“Veganism is an up and growing movement,” says Derek Farrell, council member of Vegfest in Guelph.

“We just want them to come with an open mind about our food and the way we live.”

The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features live music, inflatables, live cooking demo, a guest speaker from Florida to speak about health and nutrition, along with a wide range of vendors promoting food that is cruelty-free and non-animal based,

The festival will also have vendors promoting products related to home, beauty, nutrition, and clothing. A list of the vendors can be seen here.

“Sustainability and climate change and everything like that are all affected by the way we live our lives,” says Farrell.

He says the team hopes the event provides vistors with information related to a wide range of topics.

“So basically come enjoy the food, check out the different products that are available to us without any of the harm that modern or conventional farming and stuff like that usually has,” says Farell.

“You know it's a big movement and we don't see it going away anytime soon. It just gets bigger and bigger. So come out and enjoy a fun day with us.”
