Village Cigar Co. and Barbershop opens its doors

Giant humidor hosts 500 different types of cigars

Downtown Guelph's business scene has a new member, with the city's first store focused on the pleasure many find in a good cigar.

Village Cigar Company and Barbershop opens for business at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at 9 Cork St., in what was previously home to Bits, Bikes and Boards and before that Curry In A Hurry.

A huge walk-in humidor on the 900-square-foot main floor offers 500 varieties of cigars, ranging in price from $4 to $125 each.

Downstairs are three old school barber's chairs where haircut and shaves are being done.

Out back there is a small enclosed patio if you want to enjoy your cigar before leaving.

"It's been a lot of work, but we're really, really happy with the end result," said Jerry Felice, who co-owns three Village Cigar Company and Barbershop locations (also in Burlington and Oakville) with Ryan Baker.

Sean Edwards will be managing the Guelph location.

The store is open seven days a week. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Barbershop hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday's they stay until 8 p.m.
