SAULT STE. MARIE - Halifax’s newest destination for the latest local news, features, events and everything in between will be built on Village Media’s digital local news platform.

Today, Rogers Media launches HalifaxToday.ca and through a collaboration with Village Media, the site will bring up-to-the minute local news to Haligonians via smartphone, desktop or tablet.

Journalists from Rogers Media’s award-winning news and talk radio station NEWS 95.7 will provide local news content for the new site.

"We are excited about this new agreement with Rogers Media. We see significant complements between radio and digital, and believe the marrying of the two mediums will provide the best of both worlds for our audience and clients,” said Jeff Elgie, CEO of Village Media.

Rogers Media will be the exclusive advertising representative to sell the Canadian advertising inventory on HalifaxToday.ca.

“We’re always exploring new ways to reach our local audience, and with Village Media’s proven track record in building successful locally-focused digital news sites, this agreement is a perfect fit,” said Mark Campbell, director of news and programming, NEWS 95.7, Rogers Media. “We’re proud to serve the Halifax community, and NEWS 95.7’s award-winning team of multimedia journalists will continue to deliver vital news and compelling stories our audiences have come to rely on.”
