The Canadian Cancer Society’s (CCS) Relay For Life brings together communities, united by the same goal of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer.

On Friday, June 14, Wellington County will host it’s annual Relay For Life at Guelph Lake Conservation Area. This event is an opportunity for the community to celebrate those who live and have lived in the face of cancer and those moving past cancer.

“At the Canadian Cancer Society, we know that cancer changes people and that one in two Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. But a cancer diagnosis doesn’t have to define a person,” says Karen Griffiths, senior manager of the Waterloo-Wellington Community Office. “Our goal is to improve the cancer experience to help people live longer and enhance their quality of life. We believe that life is bigger than cancer.”

CCS is committed to improving the cancer experience by helping people with cancer live their lives more fully. Funds raised through Relay For Life are changing lives for the better. Thanks to the generosity of Canadians, CCS:

  • is the only national charitable funder of ground-breaking research into more than 100 types of cancer, giving us a valuable sightline on all aspects of the cancer landscape and allowing us to translate key learnings from one area to another
  • offers programs and services that help people with cancer and their families when they’re unsure or anxious
  • advocates to governments on important cancer-related issues to drive important social change and funding

Join us at Relay For Life on June 14 and help us continue our life-saving work. And together, we can prove that life is bigger than cancer. Make a difference and sign up today at relayforlife.ca.

About Relay For Life

For 20 years, Relay For Life has united communities across Canada with teams of family, friends and colleagues joining together to celebrate those who live and have lived in the face of cancer and those moving past cancer.

Relay is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path. On and off the track there is always something to do at Relay For Life. Those taking a break from walking can check out the entertainment and activities.
