Water main break reported at Macdonell and Wyndham

A small water main break occurred at the northwest corner of Macdonell and Wyndham street in downtown Guelph this morning. There are no health risks as a result of the break.

“We recognize this is a busy time for downtown businesses and restaurants,” says Wayne Galliher, division manager of Water Services for the City of Guelph. We’re working to fix the break as quickly as possible so everything can get back to normal business.”

Water service impacts

Water to businesses and properties along Macdonell, Carden, Cork, Wyndham and Norfolk streets may need to be shut off temporarily to complete repairs. Impacted properties will be notified directly before water shut off occurs. Changes in water pressure may be experienced throughout downtown.

Traffic and transit impacts

  • The westbound lane of Macdonell Street is closed to traffic between Wyndham Street and the Macdonell Street parking lot.
  • The eastbound lane of Macdonell Street remains open.
  • Guelph Transit buses are being detoured around the area.
  • There is no impact to pedestrian access to the area.
  • Repairs will be completed today, weather permitting.

The City will provide updates at guelph.ca and on Facebook and Twitter should anything change, or once repairs are complete.
