Three recently-published authors will be featured at the Women’s Health Evening Oct. 24 at The Bookshelf.

The event, which gets underway at 7 p.m., is part of The Bookshelf's ongoing Café Philosophique series.

Renee Pellerin’s book Conspiracy of Hope reveals that for decades, women have been told that mammograms save lives. Yet many scientists say that this is in fact not true.

Co-writer of Powered by Love: A Grandmother’s Movement to End Aids in Africa, Joanna Henry has interviewed hundreds of grandmothers (including Sarah Obama, Barack Obama's grandmother) who are reclaiming hope and resurrecting lives.

Feminist and health activist Lorraine Greaves will act as moderator. She is the editor and also contributor of Personal & Political: Stories from the Women’s Health Movement from 1960 to 2010. She was integral to a movement which challenged diagnoses, treatments, laws, policies, and research.

Tickets are available at the door or at The Bookshelf. $8.00 regular, $6.00 for members & students. For more info call 519-821-3311 ext 1.
