ST. CATHARINES – A shoot-in from centre ice with 23 seconds left in the third period skipped over the stick of goaltender Liam Herbst for the game-winning goal Thursday as the Niagara IceDogs downed the Guelph Storm 3-2.
Niagara led 1-0 after the first period and 2-0 after two before James McEwan and Isaac Ratcliffe scored a little over four minutes apart early in the third period to tie the game.
Liam Hawel, Nick Deakin-Poot and Nate Schnarr had assists.
Guelph plays in Kitchener Friday and in Windsor on Sunday.
