WATERLOO – Quarterback Shawn Lal threw three touchdown passes, two of them to Keegan Dicks, and the Guelph Gryphons never trailed as they advanced to the OUA semifinal with a 31-18 win over the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday at University Stadium.
Guelph now meets Western in the West division final Saturday in London. Game time is 1 p.m.
Guelph led Saturday's game against Laurier 14-0 at halftime and were leading 17-12 with just under five minutes remaining when Lal hit Clark Barnes on a 43 yard touchdown pass to cushion the lead, then later connected with Dicks for another touchdown.
Guelph beat Western 23-21 in the regular season back in September. It was Western's only loss of the regular season.
The East division final will see Ottawa play Queens.
