Grimes with the big night as Storm downs Niagara in pre-season play

ST. CATHARINES – Dixon Grimes made 34 saves Saturday night as the Guelph Storm improved to 3-1 on the pre-season with a 2-1 win over the Niagara IceDogs.

Dixon played the entire game.

Matt Poitras scored the winner at 11:50 of the third period, assisted by Charlie Paquette. Braeden Bowman had Guelph's other goal, assisted by Poitras and Jake Karabela.

The Storm plays in Mississauga on Thursday before wrapping up the pre-season on Friday with a home game against Mississauga.

Their regular season opens Oct. 8 in Kitchener. Home opener is Oct. 9.
