WINDSOR - A pair of sacks late in the fourth quarter helped the Guelph Gryphons preserve a 26-20 win over the Windsor Lancers on the road Saturday afternoon.

Guelph is now 2-2 on the season. Windsor falls to 0-4.

Two safeties, a 55-yard catch by Kade Belyk, a Gabe Ferraro field goal (his first of three on the day) and a two-yard run by Jean-Paul Cimankinda that was set up by a 90-yard run by quarterback Theo Landers gave Guelph a 20-3 lead by halftime.

Windsor fought back in the fourth quarter and it took sacks from Alain Cimankinda and Luke Korol to preserve the win.

"We had a much better effort today. Even though we are still making too many mistakes, our guys were able to overcome that," said head coach Todd Galloway in a news release.

"After the game, we talked about how we've been in this position before and have been on the wrong end. Our guys kept their composure and just had the mindset that there was no way they were going to lose this game."

The Gryphons finished the day with 374 yards of total offence while limiting Windsor to 274.

Landers finished 9-of-13 passing for 145 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 164 yards.

Guelph will host Queen's in the annual Homecoming game on Saturday.
