Gryphons swim to pair of golds at OUA championships

Van Moerkerke and Trevisan lead the way with gold medals

The Guelph Gryphon swim teams qualified 16 swimmers for the national championships after a very successful OUA championship meet in London over the weekend.

Eleven women and five men will be going to nationals.

Evan Van Moerkerke (100m freestyle) and Eric Trevisan (50m butterfly) captured the Gryphs lone two gold medals at the meet.

Guelph took home four silvers: men's 400m freestyle, Emily ANzai (200m backstroke), Leili Tilvaldyeva (200m breaststroke) and the men's 800m freestyle relay.

Bronze medals went to Phil Vranic (200m freestyle), women's 200m medley relay, Tilvaldyeva (50m backstroke), Anzai (100m backstroke) and the women's 800m freestyle relay team.

The University of Toronto won both the men and women's overall titles.
