Guelph Hurricanes fall in overtime to Kitchener

Jason DaSilva outstanding with 35 saves but Hurricanes still fall to league's top team

Alex Demrovsky scored with 50 seconds left in overtime Tuesday night to lift the Kitchener Dutchmen to a 2-1 win over the Guelph Hurricanes.

It was the seventh overtime loss of the season for the Hurricanes as they fell to 25-14-1-7. Kitchener is tied for the best record in the league with a 42-4-0-1 record.

With three games remaining in the regular season the Hurricanes sit tied for third place with the Listowel Cyclones in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League's Midwestern Conference.

Guelph's Cameron Stokes and Kitchener's Ryan George exchanged first period goals and that was it until Demrovsky ended it.

Jason DaSilva made 35 saves in the Guelph net and Cossimo Lazzarino made 23 for Kitchener.

Veteran Canes forward Brody Milne was ejected earlier in the game for a slashing major.

Guelph hosts the Waterloo Siskins Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
