This past weekend the WOSA Short Course Regional Championships were held in London.
This championship meet returned this year with the last being pre-COVID in February 2020.
Forty-four qualified Guelph Marlin swimmers between the ages of 10 and 17 competed in their best events against 24 other teams from the western region.
The 3.5-day meet ended with the Marlins placing as the 2nd overall team in the Western region.
Many GMAC swimmers achieved Festivals, OYJ and OSC time standards to add to their already impressive portfolios, the club said in a news release.
Outstanding performances were seen on GMAC's junior side with Fynn O'Rourke as the highest point scorer for the team with 5 first place finishes and a new Festivals time standard.
At the senior level, Andrea Luberti was the highest ladies point scorer and achieved 6 first place finishes.
Coaches Laura Nicholls and Pavlo Illichov, both Olympians, were proud of their team's performance and look forward to working with the athletes back home to bring an even larger group to the WOSA Long Course Regional Championship this June in Windsor.
A smaller group of Marlins will be heading off to Ontario Swimming Championships (OSC) next weekend at the Toronto Panam Sports Centre.

Most years, instructors within the lessons program teach more than 1,000 swimmers over the fall, winter and spring sessions of swim lessons. In the 2021/2022 competitive swimming season, Marlins athletes competed at jr provincial, jr national and national level competitions.
