Guelph's Kafui Hotsonyame is a record breaker.

Hotsonyame set a new national deadlift record at the Canadian National Powerlifting Championships in Ottawa earlier this month.

Competing in the 83-kilogram weight class, Hotsonyame lifted 317.5kg (699.9 lbs) to set the record.

Overall he won bronze, lifting 160kg (352 lbs) in the bench press and 250kg (551 lbs) in the squat.
