Guelph Royals back at .500 after two-win weekend (9 photos)

Will play four Intercounty Baseball League games this week

A two-win weekend saw the Guelph Royals improve to 4-4 on the young Intercounty Baseball League season.

On Sunday Guelph pitcher Edwin Javier went the distance in the Royals' 5-3 win over the Hamilton Cardinals in Hamilton.

Javier allowed three runs on nine hits with five walks and nine strikeouts.

Justin Interisano went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs. Angel Villalona and Ricky Murray each had a pair of hits and an RBI. Darius Barlas singled and doubled.

Saturday at Hastings Stadium they jumped out to a 6-2 lead over the London Majors then held on for a 7-5 victory.

Villalona had four hits, including his first homer of the season, and two RBIs to lead the way offensively.

Yomar Conception pitched six innings, allowing four runs and striking out eight, to pick up the win on the mound.

The Royals have a busy week coming up, with four games on the schedule.

Tuesday they host the Barrie Baycats in a 7:30 p.m. start at Hastings Stadium. Thursday they play in Welland, Friday in London and Saturday they host the Brantford Red Sox in a 1 p.m. start at Hastings.
