TORONTO - Angel Villanola homered for the second consecutive day to power the Guelph Royals to a 7-6 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Christie Pits.

The win gives Guelph at 2-1 lead in their best-of-five Intercounty Baseball League quarter-final series.

Game 4 goes Tuesday in Guelph starting at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to a two-run homer, Villalona drove home what proved to be the winning run in the top of the sixth inning, singling home Jon Waltenbury, who had doubled to lead off the inning, with two outs.

That gave Guelph a 7-3 lead at the time.

Toronto would rally for one in the bottom of the sixth and two in the bottom of the ninth before reliever David Hatt closed the door to preserve the win.

Justin Interisano had three hits for Guelph.

Edwin Javier started for the Royals and went eight innings, allowing five earned runs and striking out seven.
