Guelph Royals love that home cooking

Guelph currently in third place in the IBL standings

The Guelph Royals won their third straight and improved to 8-2 in their last 10 with a 5-1 win over the Barrie Baycats Tuesday night at Hastings Stadium.

Guelph sits in third place in the Intercounty Baseball league, 1 1/2 games back of the first place London Majors.

Conner Morro went 3-for-4 with a solo home run for the third-place Royals (25-11). Claudio Custodio also had three hits and an RBI, while Noah Roberts drove in the other run.

Jeifry Nunez (1-0) fanned six over five shutout innings for the win. He gave up a hit and walked one.

Jake Wilson’s RBI single in the sixth accounted for the Baycats’ scoring. Ryan Rijo doubled. Adam Khan (3-4) took the loss, giving up three runs on five hits over four innings. He walked two and struck out five.

Barrie fell to 20-18.

Guelph has six games remaining in the regular season. They host the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
