BARRIE – It started badly and got worse for the Guelph Storm Saturday night in Barrie.

The Barrie Colts scored twice in the opening four minutes and led 5-0 after one period before cruising to an 8-0 win over the Storm.

Jacob Oster started in net for Guelph, allowing five goals on 13 shots in that opening period. He was replaced by Brayden Gillespie to start the second period. He allowed three goals on 18 shots.

Guelph fired 38 shots at Barrie's Anson Thornton, who earned his first shutout of the season. Ethan Cardwell and Evan Vierling led the offence, each tallying two goals and two assists.

The Storm plays in London Tuesday, then hosts Erie on Friday. They currently sit tied for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with the Soo Greyhounds.
