BARRIE — The Guelph Storm shot blanks in a shootout on New Year's Eve.

Tied 3-3 in regulation, Barrie's Tyson Foerster was the only scorer of the shootout as Guelph's Pavel Gogolev, Keegan Stevenson and Eric Uba all missed, giving Barrie the 4-3 win.

Despite the loss, the one point earned means the Storm is all alone in first place in the Western Conference to start 2020.

Guelph led 2-0 in the first period on goals by Gogolev and Cam Hillis.

The Colts tied it up in the first half of the second period before Keegan Stevenson made it 3-2 before the middle frame was over.

Jason Wilms tied the game at 5:56 of the third.

Guelph's Owen Bennett and Barrie's Jet Greaves were both solid in net, each facing 33 shots.

The Storm will host the Peterborough Petes on Friday night.
