Guelph Storm falters in London

Wraps up the first half of season with a game Saturday afternoon at the Sleeman Centre

LONDON – The London Knights scored three unanswered goals over the final 40 minutes to down the Guelph Storm 4-1 at Budweiser Gardens Friday night.

London opened the scoring at 8:32 of the first period on a power play goal by Victor Mete.

Givani Smith got that one back before the end of the period, scoring on the power play, assisted by James McEwan and Ryan Merkley.

Alex Formenton scored what would prove to be the game winning goal at 4:55 of the second period. Chris Martinet made it 3-1 at 4:02 of the third. Brandon Crawley scored into an empty net to round out the scoring.

Liam Herbst made 24 saves in the Storm net, Jordan Kooy made 30 for the Knights.

Guelph wraps up the first half of the schedule Saturday afternoon when they host the Kitchener Rangers at the Sleeman Centre starting at 2 p.m.
