The remarkable season of Nico Daws continued Thursday after he made Team Canada.

Daws made the team over friend and summer training partner Hunter Jones, who was cut.

That left Daws as one of the three remaining goaltenders. The team will take three goalies to the World Junior Hockey Championships in the Czech Republic that start Dec. 26.

Daws joins Joel Hofer of the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks and Olivier Rodrigue of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Moncton Wildcats on the team.

Hofer and Rodrigue are both NHL drafted, Daws was passed over in last year's draft and will reenter the draft in 2020.

Daws, 19, leads the Ontario Hockey League in goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts this season, his first as a starter.
