OWEN SOUND – Ryan McGuire's goal late in the second period proved the difference Saturday night as the Guelph Storm downed the Owen Sound Attack for the second straight night, this time 2-1.
Brayden Gillespie made 30 saves and Cam Allen assisted on both Guelph goals, giving him four points in the team's first two games.
Guelph led 1-0 early on a goal by Jake Karabela in the first period then went up 2-0 when Max Namestinikov found McGuire streaking in over the line, taking the pass, then firing a wrister past Attack goaltender Carter George at 15:30 of the second.
Owen Sound's Sam McCue made it 2-1 at 1:33 of the third period, but that was all Gillespie was going to allow.
The Storm hosts Sault Ste. Marie on Friday.
