Braeden Bowman heads back to the Guelph Storm bench after opening the scoring against the London Knights earlier this season.

Several Guelph Storm players received recognition in the annual OHL Coaches Poll released Monday.

Coming closest to winning a category was Braeden Bowman, who finished second in the Western Conference's most improved player category, finishing just two voting points back of winner, and former Storm forward, Jacob Maillet of the Windsor Spitfires.

Each team submits one nominee per category and coaches then vote for the top three players for each category within their conference. Players receive five points for a first place vote, three points for a second place vote, and one point for a third place vote.  Clubs are not permitted to vote for players from their own team allowing for a maximum of 45 possible points for each winner.

Cooper Walker received honours in two categories: a third-place tie in smartest player category, with former Strom Sasha Pastujov, and a third-place tie in best defensive forward category with Sarnia's Nolan Burke.

Michael Buchinger finished in a tie for second place in best offensive defenceman with Logan Mailloux of the London Knights.

Max Namestnikov finished third in most improved player.

Chandler Romeo finished third in best shot blocker.

Matt Poitras finished third in best playmaker.
