The Guelph Storm has brought a young goaltender into the fold.

On Monday the team signed 17-year-old Anthony Popovich, who they drafted in the 7th round of the 2015 OHL draft.

The six-foot-one, 172-pound Belleville native spent last season playing tier II hockey with the Wellington Dukes where he sported a 2.34 goals-against average and .908 save percentage in 15 games.

"We are very excited to have Anthony commit to the Storm and we look forward to having him reach his significant hockey and academic potential", Storm GM Mike Kelly said.  "We were very excited when we drafted Anthony last April, and we have been very pleased with his development this year with the Wellington Dukes."

Popovich will join the Storm prospects at the annual Prospects Day on May 14th.

The team also announced Tuesday that they will announce who they are selecting as the first overall pick in this year's OHL draft on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in a press conference at the Sleeman Centre.

The rest of the OHL draft happens on Saturday.
