ERIE – Patrick Leaver stopped all three shooters in the shootout and Valentin Zhugin scored the lone goal for the Guelph Storm as they skated to a 4-3 shootout win over the Erie Otters Thursday.

The game was a school day event, starting at 11 a.m.

Leaver stoned Liam Gilmartin, Ondrej Molnar and Elias Cohen at one end, while Zhugin tucked one between the pads on Nathan Lalonde on a pretty move after first Guelph shooter Braeden Bowman shot wide on his attempt.

Leaver also made 33 saves in regulation and overtime.

Cooper Walker, Jake Karabela and Bowman had the Guelph goals in regulation, the first two on the power play.

Guelph plays in Kitchener on Friday and then hosts Kitchener on Sunday afternoon.
