Guelph Storm with a Wednesday shootout win

Wednesday morning start in Erie sees the Storm get its first shootout win of the season

ERIE, PA — Cam Hillis and Pavel Gogolev scored in the shootout to give the Guelph Storm a 4-3 win over the Erie Otters on Wednesday afternoon.

The game was tied 3-3 in regulation and the shootout went four shooters, with Hillis being the final shooter.

Nico Daws in the Guelph net stopped three of four Erie shooters.

Guelph's record is now 4-4-1-2 and they sit in eighth spot in the Western Conference standings, one point ahead of the London Knights and three points back of Erie.

Erie opened the scoring before Cedric Ralph tied the game. The visitors took the lead on a Tye Collins goal before Erie tied things up before the end of the first period.

The Otters took a 3-2 lead early in the second before Gueph's Andrei Bakanov tied the game later in the middle frame.

It was a scoreless third period.

Cam Hillis had a pair of assists and Daws made 28 saves.

Guelph hosts the North Bay Battalion Friday night and the Mississauga Steelheads on Sunday afternoon.
