In its inaugural season, Guelph United has secured its first ever League 1 Ontario title and a berth into the 2022 Canadian Championship with a 3-1 win over the Oakville Blue Devils last weekend.

Guelph struck first, with Jace Kotsopoulos scoring in the 19th minute, his 16th goal of the season quickly followed up by Tomasz Skublak’s 11th of the season in the 26th minute courtesy of a beautiful through ball by Dion Stergiotis

Guelph went up 3-0 on a penalty shot by Kotsopoulos.

Oakville broke the clean sheet with a goal in extra time.

This victory will now see the Guelph side compete against Canada’s best from the PSLQ (D3), MLS (D1), and CanPL (D1) for the 2022 Voyageurs Cup Canadian Championship; the draw to determine who Guelph will face in the first round of the Pan-Canadian tournament will be conducted at a later date.
