BARRIE - A valiant third-period comeback wasn’t enough Saturday as the Guelph Storm fell 5-3 to the Barrie Colts.

Guelph trailed 3-0 early in the third period before scoring three times in a span of 2:09 to tie the game with 3:11 remaining in regulation.

But Barrie’s Aidan Brown snapped one over the shoulder of Storm goaltender Nico Daws with 3:37 left in regulation for the game winner.

Barrie would add an empty-net goal to ice the game.

It was the Storm’s sixth consecutive loss.

Barrie scored twice in the opening five minutes, then went up 3-0 eight minutes into the third period.

The Storm’s Zach Poirier was ejected from the game in the second period after being handed a head checking major following a hit on Barrie’s Ben Hawerchuk.

Guelph hosts the Mississauga Steelheads Sunday at 4 p.m.
