A win by the Windsor Spitfires over the Saginaw Spirit Sunday means Guelph finishes seventh in the Western Conference standings. Kitchener finished second.
The best-of-seven series begins Friday night in Kitchener.

The two teams met eight times in the regular season, with Kitchener winning five of the games. Guelph won the final two meetings, both last week.
