Hurricanes eliminated from playoffs

Team now loses 10 players to graduation

The Guelph Hurricanes saw their junior B season come to an end Saturday night at the Sleeman Centre with a 4-1 loss to the Elmira Sugar Kings.

Elmira scored three unanswered goals in the third period to take the opening round best-of-seven playoff series 4-1.

After a scoreless first period, Guelph took th lead on David Elford's goal. But Elmira's Rob Kohli tied things up 10 minutes later to make it a 1-1 game heading to the third.

Kevin Fitzpatrick's power play goal at 3:18 of the third stood up as the winner. Klayton Hoelscher and Alex Peterson rounded out the scoring.

Jonathan Reinhart made 26 saves for Elmira, Jason DaSilva 23 for Guelph.

It was the final game of junior hockey for 10 graduating Hurricanes players.
