It's a loss, but rookie Guelph Storm goalie solid in OHL debut

Owen Sound scores winner with 39 seconds left in regulation

OWEN SOUND — Rookie Guelph Storm goaltender Owen Bennett made 39 saves in his OHL debut Saturday night but it was in vain as the Storm fell 3-2 to the Owen Sound Attack.

Matthew Philip scored the winner with 39 seconds remaining in regulation, blasting a shot from the high slot that hit someone in front of Bennett before going in for the deciding goal.

Guelph's Keegan Stevenson had scored at 6:59 of the third period to tie the game. Andrei Bakanov had Guelph's other goal as the Storm trailed 1-0 after one and 2-1 after two.

Both Gueph goals came on the power play, as did two of Owen Sound's goals.

Daniil Chayka had two assists for the Storm.

Guelph is back in action Friday when they host the Flint Firebirds.
