OWEN SOUND – Anthony Popovich stopped all three Owen Sound Attack shooters in the shootout and Isaac Ratcliffe had the lone goal as the Guelph Storm beat the Attack 6-5 Saturday night.

Barret Kirwin’s third goal of the game with 13 seconds left in regulation had forced overtime.

After a scoreless first period, the two teams combined for seven goals in the second period, with Guelph taking a 4-3 lead into the third.

A pair of goals just under five minutes apart in the third period put the Attack on top.

Popovich faced 47 shots in the Storm net.

Riley Daniels started in net for the Attack but was pulled after Guelph’s fourth goal in the second period.

The Storm will likely lose forward Zach Poirier to a suspension after he was ejected in the second period following a head check on Owen Sound defenceman Markus Phillips.

Poirier recently returned from a 10-game suspension for a similar offence.

The Storm’s next game is Wednesday in Hamilton.
