The Ontario Hockey League has set Oct. 7 as the day it plans to start the 2021-22 regular season.

The league announced its launch plans on Thursday morning. Players would report to training camp on Sept. 4. It plans to play a complete 68-game schedule, ending the regular season on April 3.

The OHL Priority Selection will take place June 4 and 5. Guelph picks third overall in the draft.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone as we turn our attention to a new season,” said commissioner David Branch in a news release. “We look forward to getting our players back into their OHL communities where they can continue to pursue their goals both on the ice and in the classroom.”

The 2022 OHL Playoffs would get underway April 7 and run through May 30 at the latest.

The 2022 Memorial Cup is planned for June 2 to June 12.

A complete 680-game 2021-22 OHL regular season schedule of games will be announced in the coming weeks.
