ERIE, PA. – Rookie centre Matt Poitras had two goals and an assist as the Guelph Storm downed the Erie Otters 4-1 Tuesday evening.

Poitras scored both his goals in the first period to stake the Storm to a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Braeden Bowman and Danny Zhilkin added second period goals.

Owen Bennett made 18 saves in the Guelph net. His shutout bid ended when Brett Bressette beat him at 13:52 of the third.

Guelph is in fifth place in the Western Conference and with two regular season games remaining appears to be headed for a first round match-up with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Theoretically they could still meet Flint in the openining round of the playoffs, but a number of unlikely scenarious would have to unfold for that to happen.

Guelph hosts the Kitchener Rangers Friday night then wraps up the regular season at home Saturday night against Windsor.
