Royals fall to Kitchener in lone weekend encounter

Host the Barrie Baycats on Tuesday at Hastings Stadium

The league-leading Kitchener Panthers struck for three runs in their first at bat before cruising to a 6-2 win over the Guelph Royals Saturday at Hastings Stadium. The loss drops the Royals to 3-7 on the year. Guelph was supposed to play in London Sunday afternoon but the game was rained out. Chandler McLaren continued his hot hitting with three hits for the Royals on Saturday, including a double. McLaren is now hitting .385 on the season. Royals starter Adrian Yuen recorded just two outs and threw 17 pitches before having to leave the game. Alex Gowing pitched five innings of relief in his Royals debut. Guelph has three games on the schedule this week: they will host the Barrie Baycats Tuesday night, play in Barrie on Thursday, then host London on Saturday afternoon.
