The Guelph Storm have picked up defenceman Cedricson Okitundu from the Owen Sound Attack in exchange for Hamilton’s fifth round pick in the 2023 OHL draft.

The 18-year-old Waterloo native was originally a fourth round pick (76th overall) by Owen Sound in the 2020 draft.

The six-foot, 200-pound left-shot defenceman recorded five assists and 36 PIMs in 43 games for the Attack during the 2021-22 OHL season. The 18 year old is a product of the Waterloo Wolves AAA program.

Earlier Thursday Guelph officially acquired the rights to goaltender Ethan Kowatsch from the Mississauga Steelheads in exchange for a 13th round pick. Kowatsch will be the team's third goaltender. He had previously dressed for the Storm on an emergency basis.

The Storm kicks off the 2022-23 season at home Friday against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The game will be preceded by a free street party happening on Macdonell Street.
