Storm rallies in third period for pre-season win

MISSISSAUGA – The Guelph Storm scored four unanswered goals in the third period to down the Mississauga Steelheads 7-6 in pre-season action Sunday afternoon.

Matt Poitras, the team's 2020 first round pick, scored the winner at 17:35 of the third period.

Guelph trailed 3-1 after one period and 6-3 after two.

Seven different players scored for Guelph. Joining Poitras on the scoresheet were Charlie Paquette, Jacob Maillet, Jakob MacRae, Chase Coughlan, Jake Karabella and Danny Zhilkin.

Cam Allen, Leo Hafenrichter and Ryan McGuire all had two assists.

Jacob Oster allowed one goal on eight shots and Dixon Grimes allowed five on 23 shots in the Guelph net.

Guelph will host the Niagara IceDogs Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the third of five exhibition games.
