Thanksgiving Day Races hit the road on Monday

Hosted by the Guelph Victors, the annual event is a fundraiser for the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital

The tradition continues Monday as the annual Thanksgiving Day Races take place around Exhibition Park.

The races have been held in Guelph for over a hundred years and there are races for all ages, with participants in the past ranging from two years old to 91.

The event, which is run by the Guelph Victors, is a fundraiser for The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital

The Thanksgiving races are preceded by the Vic Matthews Memorial 10K starting at 10 a.m.

The rest of the events are as follows:

1. Nicolas Lambden Memorial Mile, 11a.m.

2. 100m for five years and under only, 11:15 a.m.

3. 5k, open 11:30 a.m.

4. 1k for kids in Grades 1 to 3 only, 12:10 p.m.

5. 3k open, includes walkers, 12:30 p.m.

Race kit pickup and same-day registration starts at 9 a.m. at Exhibition Park.
