Thanksgiving Day Races set for Monday

Races ranging from 100 m for children to 5 km and 10 km for the more serious runner

The annual Thanksgiving Day Races are set for this Monday around Exhibition Park.

The event, which has its origins in 1894, features five different races around the park: 

  1. Nicolas Lambden Memorial Mile: 11 a.m.
  2. 100m for 5 years and under only: 11:15 a.m.
  3. 5k, open: 11:30 a.m.
  4. 1k for kids in Grade 1 to 3 only: 12:10 p.m.
  5. 3k open, includes walkers: 12:30 p.m.

The Vic Matthews 10k Road Race will go before the Thanksgiving Day lineup, starting at 10 a..m.

Entry fees cover the cost of the race and runners are asked to collect pledges, with those going to supporr the Guelph General Hospital.

There is a 10 per cent family discount if three or more family members register at the same time.

The weather forecast is calling for sunny skies and a high of 11 C.
