Tristan Pompey, seen here as a member of the NCAA's Kentucky Wildcats, has signed with the Guelph Royals for 2023.

Dalton Pompey's stay in Guelph is having a ripple effect.

His younger brother Tristan has signed with the Royals for the upcoming Intercounty Baseball League season.

The 25-year-old is being touted as an MVP-calibre player by field manager Dino Roumel.

"I can't tell you how excited I am and we are as an organization to have Tristan join us for the 2023 season," he said in a news release.

"Tristian is an incredibly (talented) baseball player who will be a huge asset for us, not only offensively and defensively, but also as another high-character person in our clubhouse. Tristan has an amazing family and I think they will once again be embraced by this community."

Tristan, much like his brother, plays in the outfield. He also provides flexibility at the plate as a switch-hitter.

Tristan is a former member of the Canadian National Junior team, was drafted in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins and won a Frontier League title with the Quebec Capitales last summer.

The Kentucky Wildcat alum posted a .215 average in 46 games for the Capitales in 2022, hit four home runs, drove in 13 RBI and scored 28 runs.

Guelph will begin the 2023 season on the road in Hamilton May 19. The home opener goes Saturday, May 20 at 1 p.m. against the Kitchener Panthers.
