Wellington Basketball Club still winless (12 photos)

Poor shooting in fourth quarter sinks Canadian Basketball League team

The Wellington Basketball Club remains winless in the first year of play for the Canadian Basketball League.

The team has lost all seven of its games this season, the latest being an 89-80 loss to Scarborough on Sunday at the new Mitchell Athletics Centre on the University of Guelph Campus.

The game was attended by around 450 fans, roughly two-thirds of what showed up for the team's first home game the week before.

The game was tied with four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but a series of turnovers and inability to hit key shots down the stretch did the home side in. Wellington hit just six of 20 field goal attempts in the fourth quarter.

They led 20-16 after the first quarter and trailed 43-41 at the half.

Devon Scott led Wellington with 22 pints before fouling out late in the game. Isiah Thomas, with 14, was the only other Wellington player to hit for double figures.

Gueph plays at home again Sunday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m.
