When Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called an election on Aug. 15, many felt the timing wasn't the best, considering the situation with COVID-19 and the emergence of the variants and a possible fourth wave.

GuelphToday.com polled 2,353 GuelphToday.com readers and asked the question: Did Prime Minister Justin Trudeau do the right thing by calling an election?

The poll ran from Aug. 18 to Aug. 24. Of the 2,353 votes, we can determine that 1,021 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Yes 22.14 % total, 22.04 % local
No 76.12 % total, 75.91 % local
I don't vote anyway, so it makes no difference 1.70 % total, 1.76 % local
  Local   Total

This result provides for a 95% confidence level +/- 2% margin of error in the local community.

GuelphToday.com uses a variety of techniques to capture data, detect and prevent fraudulent votes, detect and prevent robots, and filter out non-local and duplicate votes.
