Canada's four-match win streak in Volleyball Nations League halted by Germany

OTTAWA — The Canadian men's team had its win streak halted at four matches after falling to Germany in four sets on Saturday in Volleyball Nations League action.

Germany fought off the home crowd to win: 25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19 at TD Place.

Canada suffered from sloppy play with 25 errors.

"We had opportunities, especially in the first set, and I'm really not satisfied with our play. We weren't aggressive enough, and we made a lot of mistakes," said Canada's coach Stephane Antiga.

Stephen Maar led the Canadians with 17 spikes and one block while Brad Gunter (12 points) and Nicholas Hoag (11 points) chipped in.

Germany plays Australia while the Canadians play against the U.S. on Sunday.
