Cleveland Monsters rally from 3 down, defeat Toronto Marlies in overtime

TORONTO — Tyler Sikura scored a power-play goal at 2:12 of overtime as the Cleveland Monsters rallied from three goals down to defeat the Toronto Marlies 6-5 in the American Hockey League on Sunday.

Brendan Gaunce and Jake Christiansen led the offence with one goal and two assists apiece for the Monsters (8-3-4), which have won three consecutive games. 

Liam Foudy, Carson Meyer and Trey Fix-Wolansky also scored for Cleveland. Kevin Stenlund chipped in with two assists. Daniil Tarasov stopped 23 shots for the win.

Brett Seney, Jack Kopacka, Pavel Gogolev and Alex Steeves each scored and had an assist for the Marlies (8-4-2). Curtis Douglas also scored. Michael Hutchinson turned aside 41-of-47 shots in defeat.

The Monsters were down 4-1 late in the second period when Foudy got one back to take a two-goal deficit into the third. With the visitors down 5-4, Fix-Wolansky forced overtime with a goal at 18:21 of the third.

Gogolev was in the box for hooking when Sikura beat Hutchinson in overtime.

Cleveland outshot Toronto 47-28.
