Pro wrestling legend Bret Hart says he'd be happy to rally the Stampeders

Never mind the Nature Boy. The Hitman would be up for rousing the football troops too.

After Ric (Nature Boy) Flair did his part to wind up the Tiger-Cats and their fans last Sunday in the CFL East Division semifinal at Hamilton, another pro wrestling legend — Bret (Hitman) Hart — said he'd be keen to rally the Stampeders' faithful on Sunday in his hometown of Calgary.

In an email, a Stampeders spokesman said that contact was made with Hart's representative last week but nothing had been confirmed. Hart, who returned home from an overseas trip on Monday night, said on Tuesday that he'd be interested.

"I'm open to whatever they want me to do," Hart told The Canadian Press from Calgary. "I think they want me to give the players a little pep talk before they go out, which would be fine with me. I'd love to do that."

Hart added that if desired, he'd also be up for working the crowd at McMahon Stadium before the Stampeders take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

"Any way that ensures the win," Hart said.

Flair, who wore a Tiger-Cats jersey under his blazer last weekend, helped fire up the players in the locker room and led the fans in the team's signature Oskee Wee Wee chant before the game. Hamilton stormed out to an early lead en route to a 48-8 rout of the B.C. Lions.

"I'm actually quite impressed that he took in a Canadian Football League game," Hart said. "So I actually commend him for that. I like that he's helping out the Canadian teams a little bit, at least Hamilton.

"I'm a big Stamps fan and they've always been good to me. I know some of the management and stuff like that. Usually I take in quite a few Stampeders games although I haven't taken any in this year. I love the team and I have a strong feeling that they're going to go all the way this year."

The Tiger-Cats will visit the Ottawa Redblacks in the East Final on Sunday. The Grey Cup is set for Nov. 25 in Edmonton.
